How To Improve Your English Speaking Skills
by Jason Catizone on 07/17/24
One of the main things that English learners wish to improve - is their speaking skills. And it's understandable why; the better you speak in English, the more opportunities you will be able to enjoy in business, friendships, and travel.
So how can you improve your speaking skills?
It is a rather simple answer, actually, and it is this: speak more! Try to find opportunities to not just write in English, but to also speak in English. The more that you do that, the more your speaking skills will improve.
But how can I find native English speakers to talk with?!
Yes, that can pose some difficulties, but there are solutions to such a dilemma. Here are two ways:
* Try to find or make a friend who is a native English speaker. This option may be difficult to do, but if you can find another person to speak with on a regular basis, that will help raise your English level. If you can find a friend who shares similar interests with you - such as walking, talking about current events, etc. - that can be a great benefit in helping you to improve your speaking skills.
* Take English lessons with a tutor, or join a school's English class. Whether you choose a private lesson, a small group session, or a large English class at a school, make sure that you have a lot of time to speak. Large classes can of course teach you very much, but the downside is that there often is not a lot of time for each student to speak when the class is very large. Private English lessons and courses - as well as small group (1-3 students) lessons and courses - can give you a lot of time for speaking. And look for a tutor or teacher who allows you to speak a lot; a tutor/teacher who just talks for the entire session will not help your speaking skills so much. Because the student needs time to practice speaking English, not the tutor/teacher!
Don't give up, and keep on trying!
Yes, you will make many mistakes. But I've done the same in other languages lol. We all make mistakes!
Don't give up!
