Saying "P" And "F" Correctly

One area that many of my English students have trouble with is pronouncing "P" and "F" sounds correctly. It is critical, however, that you do not mix up these sounds! Saying that John is very past (fast), or that you pought (fought) with laziness means that basically no one will understand you.
When you pronounce "P," make sure that your lips touch and are closed. Then, at the same time that you are pushing air out of your mouth, open your lips. This is "P."
When you pronounce "F," however, make sure that your lips don't touch in the front, and make sure that your lips are not closed. Now, simply push air out of your mouth. This is "F."
Practice saying these words:
pat / fat
pace / face
pin / fin
pine / fine
peel / feel
Pete / feet
pot / fought
pony / phony
pun / fun
These sounds can be challenging, but with some practice and attention, you too can pronounce them better.
